I've practiced martial arts for 40 years. I started with wrestling and Karate in high school, Tang Soo Do in college, a 3rd dan in instructor in Okinawian Uechi- Ryu, 1st dan in the Jo staff.
In my mid thirties, I started noticing changes in my lower body stability, and mobility. A doctor who referred massage and personal training clients to me said I had dysplasia in my left hip, that is a congenital shallow hip joint. He suggested I start training with his Taiji teacher. This opened this new world of internal martial arts to me. When he demonstrated push hands to me, I was helplessly lifted up and off balance thrown back like a big wave in the ocean. At that moment, I found my new direction, Chen Taiji. the practice got me through the rehab of 2 hip replacements. The physical and mental benefits amaze me everyday from this internal maritial art.
